For the first time since I arrived Japan, I came back to my home country twice in the same year. I mostly try to come back every 2 years, which is a good pace according to me. Moreover, it was the first time in 4 years I came back for new year celebrations.

This time I was exclusively located in Paris as my wife was still attending French class there. We didn’t go outside Paris.

日本にきてから1年に2回もフランスの実家にもどったのははじめてです。だいたい2年に1度くらいの頻度で帰国するのが、自分の中ではちょうどいいペースかなって思ってます。それにしても、年末年始に帰国したのはこの4年間ではじめてのことです。

Last days of 2017　

In France, end of the year is meant to be spent with family and friends. We mostly spend Christmas day and the day after with family, eating delicious food together and waiting for presents from Santa on the Christmas eve. Santa was kind this year 😀

フランスでは、年末は家族や友だちと過ごし、だいたいクリスマス前後は家族と美味しいご飯を食べたり、サンタからのプレゼントを心待ちにします。今年もサンタは親切でしたよ。

帰国中はほとんどの時間を家族とすごしました。下の写真はクリスマスイブのディナーの様子です。

We have for this purpose 2 national holidays, on December 25th and January 1st. If you travel to France around these 2 dates, be careful because almost everything is closed. French people need to rest after such great dinner!

フランスでは12/25と1/1は祝日で、だいたいそのあたりの期間にフランスに旅する時には、町の店がほとんどすべて閉まってしまうので注意が必要です。クリスマスや新年のときに豪華な料理をフランス人は食べるので、休養が必要だってことですね。

I spent also some time with friends, meeting mostly in Paris or at home. Here is an Asians-learning-French party at home!

帰国時にはパリや実家で友だちともよく過ごしました。下の写真は実家でのAsians-learning-Frenchとのパーティーの様子です。

Here are some of my engineer classmates in a bar, speaking about IT, blockchain and investments (drinking beers and eating ‘french’ fries with cheese of course).

下の写真はバーでのエンジニア仲間との様子で、ITやブロックチェーン、投資の話で盛り上がっています。（ビール片手にポテトにもちろんチーズをおともに）

And here is the New Year Eve at one of my other friend place nearby Paris, where we wished everybody a happy new year and all the best for 2018! NYE Party theme was “the 90’s”, and as you can notice, I didn’t follow the dress code.

こちらは、大晦日の様子でパリ近郊の友だちのお家での様子。新年を迎えるためにみなで集まったのですが、テーマは90年代！でも、見たらわかるように僕はドレスコードにしたがってないです。ｗｗ
