Introduction (はじめに)

Watching our children head off to school for the first time is a dream come true and a milestone we will always cherish. Having already experienced this with our daughter, Inaaya-chan, we eagerly awaited the day our son, Izaan-kun, would start his own journey. That day finally arrived on April 7th, 2026.

子どもたちが初めて登校する姿を見守ることは、親にとって一つの大きな夢が叶う瞬間であり、いつまでも大切にしたい人生の節目でもあります。長女のイナ-ヤの時に経験したあの感動を胸に、私たちは長男のイザーンが自らの歩みを始める日を心待ちにしていました。そして2026年4月7日、ついにその大切な日を迎えました。

Preparation and the Big Day (April 7th) (準備と当日)

The preparation began long before the first bell rang. By April 6th, we had organized all the necessary tools, lunch boxes, bags, and shoes, carefully writing Izaan-kun’s name on every item. On the morning of April 7th, we woke him up at 7:30 am. He was a mix of excitement and nerves. His elder sister, Inaaya-chan, was especially thrilled to return to her former school and introduce her brother to her old teachers.

準備は、始業のベルが鳴るずっと前から始まっていました。4月6日までには、必要な学用品やお弁当箱、カバンや靴などをすべて揃え、その一つひとつにイザーンの名前を丁寧に書き入れました。

迎えた4月7日の朝、7時30分に彼を起こすと、その表情には期待と緊張が入り混じっているようでした。また、姉のイナーヤは、かつて通った幼稚園を再訪し、当時の先生方に弟を紹介できることを誰よりも喜んでいました。

We arrived at the school by 8:45 am. Inaaya-chan took on the role of a protective elder sister, teaching Izaan-kun where to place his shoes, bags, and dress, and even showing him his designated chair. Although Izaan-kun was initially hesitant to enter the classroom, feeling overwhelmed by the unfamiliar Japanese environment and the crowd, he eventually settled in.

The first day served as an inauguration and introduction. During the ceremony, Izaan-kun sat attentively with his sister. He even joined in the clapping as the event began. However, the transition to group photographs proved difficult. Being asked to sit with his new classmates without his parents caused him to cry, though he was eventually comforted by his mother’s presence for the photo.

8時45分に幼稚園へ到着すると、イナーヤは頼りがいのあるお姉さんぶりを発揮してくれました。靴やカバンの置き場所、着替えの仕方を教え、彼の指定席まで案内してくれたのです。イザーンは、慣れない日本の幼稚園の環境や大勢の人に圧倒され、最初は教室に入るのをためらっていましたが、次第に落ち着きを取り戻していきました。

初日は入園式と紹介がメインでした。式の間、イザーンはお姉さんの隣で熱心に耳を傾け、式が始まると周りに合わせて拍手もしていました。ただ、その後の集合写真の撮影では、少し心細くなってしまったようです。親元を離れて新しいクラスメイトと並ぶことに不安を感じて泣き出してしまいましたが、最終的にはお母さんが寄り添うことで、安心して写真に収まることができました。

The Ceremony and Challenges (式典と課題)

Despite his hopes of playing on the playground, the bad weather and the formal nature of the “Introduction Day” meant there was no playtime. To help him relax after a big day, we took him to the shopping mall for a small treat.

校庭の遊具で遊ぶことを楽しみにしていたイザーンでしたが、あいにくの天候に加え、この日はあくまで「顔合わせ」という式典中心のスケジュールであったため、外で遊ぶ時間は持てませんでした。

大きな節目の一日を終えた彼がリラックスできるよう、帰りにショッピングモールへ立ち寄り、ささやかなご褒美をプレゼントしました。

The First Bus Ride (April 8th) (初めてのバス登園)

April 8th marked the start of regular classes and a new challenge: the school bus. While he was calm at home, the arrival of the bus brought tears and a desire to run away. With the gentle help of his teacher and the promise of a treat after school, he boarded the bus.

We spent the morning worried, as this was his first true time away from us. However, our worries were eased when he returned at 12:00 pm, looking happy and comfortable. He was particularly delighted to see Inaaya-chan waiting to pick him up after her own school day.

4月8日からは通常の園生活が始まり、園バスという新たな挑戦もスタートしました。家では落ち着いていたイザーンでしたが、いざバスが到着すると、涙が溢れ出し逃げ出したい気持ちになってしまったようです。それでも、先生の優しい手助けと「放課後のお楽しみ」の約束を励みに、なんとかバスに乗り込むことができました。

親元を離れて過ごす初めての本番に、私たちは午前中ずっと心配でなりませんでした。しかし、12時に帰宅した彼の表情は明るく、リラックスした様子で、私たちの不安は一気に解消されました。自分自身の学校を終え、迎えに来てくれていたイナーヤとの再会は、彼にとって何よりの喜びだったようです。

Conclusion (結び)

While it was a week of big emotions and new experiences, seeing Izaan-kun begin to settle in has been a joy. Just like the memories we hold of Inaaya-chan’s first day, April 7th will always be a special date for our family. We look forward to seeing him grow and eventually enjoy that playground he is so excited about!

この一週間は、溢れるほどの感情と新しい経験に満ちた日々でしたが、イザーンが少しずつ学校生活に馴染み始める姿を見ることができ、大きな喜びに包まれています。長女イナーヤの初日の思い出と同じように、2026年4月7日は、私たち家族にとっていつまでも色褪せない特別な記念日となりました。

これから彼が健やかに成長し、いつかあの大好きな園庭で、思いきり走り回って遊ぶ姿を見守るのが今から楽しみでなりません。
