K.I.S.S. vs Security IT Deathmatch
For my first post I want to talk about an article that I read online recently.
K.I.S.S. or ‘Keep it simple stupid’ is one of the core philosophies of building any network - home or corporate. It enables a team to do emergency preparedness, quickly locate a issue and resolve it. But when does keeping it simple impede security?
This especially applies to things like deploying workstations on windows. Users will naturally try and drift in the direction of asking to input simple passwords or have full admin access to the system. Despite what many users might think, it is part of the IT departments job to protect them from themselves - however when does it start to impede them completing their work? The article provides some interesting insights.
